Self Acceptance
Allow All Of You
Every now and again I can feel her behind me.
The one that whispers in my ear.
Some days she just waits,
begging to dance in the fire.
I can feel her heart pulsing.
I can see her mouth salivating.
Her hair is free, her eyes are pierced open wide, her tongue is disinterested in acceptable answers.
Do you know this part of you?
Who lingers behind you?
Who are you when you’re drunk?
When you’re dressed in only skin?
When you’re covered in sweat, full of blood, full of heat, expressed in the rawness of life beyond the veil?
Can you feel this part of you?
As you stretch in the morning, as you tilt your neck from side to side and twist your spine to move and turn and ache.
What are you hiding?
What are you running from?
What do you keep tucked away in the dark corners of your soul?
If you follow the cracks, where do they lead?
Close your eyes.
Breathe into You.
Breathe into the open spaces, the hallow of your chest.
Follow the blood in your veins from one limb to the next.
Do you feel the life you hold?
Allow the parts of you that scream, beg, cry, dance, to be held.
What do these parts of you need?
Love, passion, expression, acknowledgment, acceptance?
How can you be all of You today?
Show these parts of you they’re safe to play.
Like a child running up the walls.
Clawing at the rules.
Chewing on the demands, the expectations, the notions of packing ourselves into compartments for others to swallow whole, for us to swallow whole.
What do you need to be free?
